What "asset-based" actually means for your freight

Carriers, brokers and hybrids all quote the same lanes. Here is what changes when the company that quotes you also owns the truck.

When a shipper asks us what makes Land Line Cargo different, the honest answer is simple: we own the truck. That sounds like a small detail until a load is running late at 2 AM and you need someone who can actually call the driver.

Carrier, broker, or both?

A broker arranges transportation using other companies' trucks. An asset-based carrier moves freight on equipment it owns, with drivers it employs or contracts directly. Many companies do a mix of both, and that's fine, but you should know which one you're getting on each load.

  • One point of contact from tender to POD
  • No double-brokering risk
  • Direct driver communication and live tracking
  • Insurance and safety record you can check by DOT number

What it means day to day

Our dispatchers plan around our own drivers' hours, home time and equipment. When we say a truck will be at your dock at 7 AM, we can see exactly where that truck is right now. That visibility is the whole product.

If you've got a lane that keeps falling through, send it our way. We'll tell you straight whether we can cover it.

Ship with us or drive with us.

Either way, it starts with a two-minute form.
